Update on Life

Hello Students!

Just to give everyone an update, we are slowly settling in to life in Mississippi. Both Alyssa and I have found jobs at UMMC, the largest teaching hospital in the state, and we are adjusting to the culture shock. No huge bugs yet (much). :)

Which brings us to the bad news. Due to the constraints of the probation period of our new jobs, we are unable to make it back to California to teach the October 18th classes at The Learning Exchange. When we called to notify them, they said they would keep the classes open and find someone else to teach them, but we will not be teaching at Learning Exchange on October 18th. Learning Exchange recently changed ownership, so we don't know how that will affect the classes we teach there in the future at this point.

We have rescheduled our trip tentatively for the middle of January, possible Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. We know that might be a little difficult for some of you since it's around a holiday, but it will allow us to capitalize on how much time we get to spend in California. We will be sending out more info as we get plans more finalized, and of course be posting that info on the blog as well. We don't know yet if we will be teaching at Learning Exchange or another venue but will let you know as it gets closer.

We are also starting to build up our supplies again, so if anyone needs any supplies, or if you have any questions as you are working on your creations during the upcoming holidays, please feel free to drop us a line. We'd love to hear from all of you!

Safe and Sound

Well, we made it safe and sound to Mississippi, and have been settling in nicely here.  We already miss all of you and are busy planning our classes for October when we come back to Sacramento for a visit, so keep an eye on this and your email to see more details on that in the coming months.

In the meantime, if anyone needs supplies, we are still doing them via mail order, so please feel free to email us for that.  We are also kicking around ideas about doing an email recipe club or something, so please continue to send us your emails if you ever have questions or need help troubleshooting anything.

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July!

2nd Offering of Advanced Soap Boot Camp Opened

Due to a large demand for our Advanced Soapmaking Boot Camp, we have tentatively opened a second session of the camp on March 15th.  Currently, the March 1st class is full, but if we get 5 or more students to sign up, we can hold class on the 15th.

We are extending the early bird discount for signing up early by one week, to February 8th.  Balance of the class fee will be due March 3rd.

Yummy New Fragrances

Going along with our post on new molds that have arrived this past week, today we are featuring some yummy new fragrances we now have available.

Berry Flirt - This fun and flirty sweet fragrance is perfect for upcoming spring projects.  Sweet without being overwhelming.  Features top notes of plum blossom, berries, apple; mid notes of peach blossom, violet, and camellia with a base of vanilla and light musk.

Buttermint - This sweet fragrance smells just like the buttermints it gets it's name from!  A sweet blend of mint and vanilla.

Camu Camu - I love citrus scents, and I have to say, this is one of my absolute all-time favorites.  This citrus is so different from many of the standard grapefruit, orange, lime scents out there.  It's a perfect blend of citrus and berry.  Featuring notes of tart red berries, juicy orange and peach nectar blended with a twist of lime.

Country Chic - This fragrance is a complex/multi-layered delight.  Each time I smell it, I smell something new.  With top notes of citrus fruits, sweetened out with florals of jasmine, gardenia, orange blossom, and grounded with cedar, amber, musk, caramel, and vanilla.

Flirty Diva - Normally no one likes a diva, but I think you will love this scent.  It's a little strange smelled out of the bottle, but used in soap it is strangely addictive!  Sweet berries, jasmine, rose, white musk, and a little bit of lemon to lighten it up.  Fabulous!

Forever Red - This seductive scent smells just like a Victoria Secret fragrance.  Perfect for Valentine's Day projects.  Deep red pomegranate, peach, apple, with peony and marigold, and grounded in plum and oak.

Fruit Slices -  If you'd like a good basic, citrus scent, you can't do better than this!  It's a perfect blend of lemon, orange, lime, and grapefruit.

Jade - This complex fragrance is a great blend of fruits and florals, with top notes of jasmine, lilies, violets, lavender, and rose combined with the juiciness of pineapple, apple, and melon.  Totally unique and wonderful!  Does slightly accelerate in cold process soap (use low temps).

Lemon Juniper -This is a great fresh fragrance, perfect for a pick-me-up.  Bright uplifting lemon balanced out with the earthy scent of juniper berries.

Lime Cilantro -This fragrance is actually a bit of surprise.  You would expect it to be spicy from the name, but it really is more heavy on the lime, but with that hint of something else you can't quite name (which would be the cilantro :)   Grounded out with a slight woodsy scent.  Good enough to eat!

Turquoise Sky -This version of a popular Bath and Body Works scent is perfect for spring and summer.  A totally unique scent you really have to smell to believe.  Classic ocean clean and salt scents mixed with light greens, sparkling citrus, and soft musk.   Does slightly accelerate in cold process soap (use low temps).

All of these fragrances are now added to the Fragrance and Essential Oils page, and are ready to order right away.

There's always new things showing up, so keep an eye on this blog for more new stuff coming in all the time!
